Gayle's new book The Jasmine Tree is due for release on 15th January 2015.

Quick Q&A with Gayle

What do you like about The Jasmine Tree?

"The Jasmine Tree is my favourite book so far. I am the first to admit that have grown as an author over the past year and although I love The Right Turn and The New Dawn, The Jasmine Tree is a much harder, more intense story.

What do you like about your main characters in The Jasmine Tree?

Michael and Lilly are strong people in their own right, but together they make an powerful couple. Saskia who is introduced later in the book, who is head of the European Bratva, is a woman you do not want to mess with but when Michael finds her secrets, the real Saskia is revealed and I love that side of her, she was a joy to write.

Where did you find your inspiration to write The Jasmine Tree?

"I got the idea for The Jasmine Tree when I was in New Orleans in 2014. We went on a scandal tour where the tour guide told us about the Russian Mafia taking over the seedier side of life in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and how the Bratva import girls from Eastern Europe with the promise of a better life in the USA. But realistically they are drugged and put to work in the strip clubs on Bourbon Street in the French Quater. After a few years, when they are hooked on heroin and are burnt out, the girls go missing, stories of the girls being dumped in the Mississpi were hinted at. This intrigued me and I couldn't wait to get home and put pen to paper (or fingers to ipad). Ten weeks later The Jasmine Tree was ready to go to my Beta readers and the feed back I got from my four strong team was that this was the best book yet and Michael and Lilly's story had them hooked from page one. I hope you like it as much as us."

The Jasmine Tree - release date 15th January 2015

Michael Reynolds, ex Royal Marine and SBS (special forces) has been deep undercover in the Russian Mafia for two years. He hates his assignment, but because his mother was Russian, he was called upon to infiltrate the organisation by MI5. Now called Mikel, he has been tasked by his mafia bosses with finding girls in Eastern Europe who are to be put to work in the sex industry in New Orleans with the empty promise of a better life in the USA.

Mikel meets Lilly Summers in a Mafia owned club and starts a relationship with her, but soon backs away when he realises he is getting in too deep and doesn't want Lilly to get involved in his current life or to be dragged into the organisation he works in. But Lilly starts working for Mikel's Mafia boss and his love for Lilly grows.

When Mikel is encouraged to go further undercover by his MI5 boss he finds himself in a battle between reality and the counterfeit life he has been leading, although when he finds out Lilly is not all she is supposed to be, that is where his troubles really start.

But Michael is troubled in other ways....what is in his nightmares and what is the significance of the large tattoo that covers his back?

Michael stood in front of his bathroom mirror, running his fingers through his hair.

When did he stop recognising his reflection? Apart from having a quick shave every other day, he hadn't really studied himself for a while. His forty-one year old weary, blue eyes looked back at him as he dragged his cheeks down and moved nearer to the mirror for a closer inspection.

The lines that were appearing around his eyes seemed to be getting deeper by the day. Dragging his fingers through his hair once again, he could just see the beginnings of grey coming through the dark brown. Where had that come from? He wondered if he could pull off the George Clooney look a few years down the line but decided he had a harder life than Mr Clooney so probably not. "I'm getting too old for this shit!" he said to himself in the mirror. "And talking to yourself Mikey-boy? That's not going to go down well at your next psyche-eval is it?"

Walking back into the main room of his pokey bedsit, he sat down on the edge of his bed and put his head in his hands and massaged his aching skull with his large callused fingers. God he missed being himself, he was tired of his counterfeit life, he just wanted to climb to the highest point in London and shout, "I am Michael Reynolds!"

He got off the bed and knelt on the hard wooden floorboards and picked up his mattress. Stretching deep into the middle of the underside, he reached and felt for the cut he had made in the soft furnishing and pulled out the envelope he was fishing for. Sitting back down on the floor he opened the flap and carefully laid the three photographs out in front of him.

The Right Turn

Rachael is a hard working, ambitious 29 year old Londoner who relocated to the beautiful Georgian city of Bath in the South West of England after the death of her father four years ago. She now finds herself alone after she walked in on her boyfriend James cheating on her. Although upset, Rachael is not devastated by the split as he constantly belittled and controlled her throughout their relationship.

Rachael quickly begins a new relationship with Ethan after meeting him on a night out drowning her sorrows with friends and soon realises that he is her forever after. But James finds the split difficult to come to terms with and becomes obsessed with trying to win Rachael back, threatening her and those close to her as the story takes a sinister turn with an extreme outcome.

In a casual coffee meeting Detective Sergeant Deborah Beaufort, who is the police officer leading the investigation into trying to catch James, admits that they are beginning to give up all hope in finding him and gives Ethan the idea for the perfect murder.

Will Ethan and Rachael act on their instincts and take the right turn.

The New Dawn

Egypt, a country Eloise had only dreamed of visiting since she was a child, is about to give her more adventure than she could have ever have thought possible, after she takes the hard decision to continue with her honeymoon alone when her wedding is cancelled.

After taking refuge in a coffee shop in Karnak Temple, she meets Jackson, an American Ph.D. student, who invites her to dinner and over the next few days they visit the tombs and temples of Luxor together, as well as enjoying a cruise down the Nile. Jackson eventually persuades Eloise to extend her holiday and come with him to Cairo after they both admit their love for one another, but their love story is cut short when Eloise is accused of murder and thrown into a notorious Egyptian prison.

Can Jackson help clear her name, with the help of British Detective Debbie Beaufort (The Right Turn) and save her from the death penalty?

I love being an author. I love my own company and my day job allows me a few hours throughout the day to write sometimes a few chapters depending on my mood and imagination. I have just looked at my diary for tomorrow and don't have to work until 3pm so lots of writing tomorrow!

I am waiting for my proof reader to finish my book 'The Jasmine Tree' and can't do anything more with it until she finishes. So frustrating as I want to start another book but must really finalise this one first. I have been fiddling with a new one but only have two chapters at the moment. Feeling a bit in limbo currently, I'll pick up the new one again see how I get on.

I'm at that really awkward stage in writing at the moment. I have one book with my editors (the new dawn) and one at 5 beta readers. (The Jasmine Tree) and I can't do anything with either one. I don't want to start another book at the moment as within 2 weeks I will have 2 books to edit so I'm now doing some reading and catching up on some of my Siren collegues books. I have just read Frey Ortegas Rude Awakening which I really enjoyed and have just downloaded Peyton Clarkes Blood Bond so am looking forward to starting that tomorrow.
